Professor Ajayi, Akande Oladimeji is the current Provost of the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. He is a Professor of Medicine/Gastroenterology and Consultant Physician /Gastroenterologist. Had his primary education at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Primary School, Omu – Ekiti, Oye Local Government area of Ekiti State. He proceeded to Annunciation Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti for his secondary school education. He graduated as a Medical Doctor (MBBS) from the prestigious College of Medicine of the University of Lagos in 1987.

He had his postgraduate Fellowship training at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where he bagged the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) in 2002. He attended a certificate course in Endoscopy at MedIndia Hospital and Institute of Multi-specialties, Chennai, India in 2007. He had a Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University 2007.

He became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2011, Fellow of the American Society   of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) in 2014 and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCPE) in 2016.

He was the pioneer Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (2008-2012). Acting Head, Department of Physiology (2013-2016), the Acting Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (2016-2018) and the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences (2019-2023)

He is an Examiner in Gastroenterology and General Medicine to the West African Postgraduate Medical College, Faculty of Internal Medicine and the current Sub-specialty Head of Gastroenterology. He is also an External Examiner to Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo and the University of Ilorin, Ilorin.

Prof Ajayi, Akande Oladimeji has over 85 publications in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals with over 1,300 citations, h-index of 19 and i10-index of 32. He is a lover of sports and happily married with children.
