Brief History of The Department
The Department was created at the inception of the College and it was headed by the foundational Head of Department in the person of Dr. Akanbi Ganiyu Olusola between 2012-2016 and December 2019-2020. The Department progressed under the successive leadership of Dr Aduayi Olufunso (2018-Dec 2019), Dr Thomas Awolowo Anthony (2020-2022) and Dr Abayomi Olawale Ayobami (2022- 2024)
The Objectives and Mission Statement
Objectives of the Department
- To provide Foundational Knowledge for Clinical Students in College of Medicine.
- To enable Medical student understand the correlation between imaging findings and clinical presentations.
- The provide expertise and advise in the use of Ionizing and Non ionizing radiation in Clinical settings.
- To provide Researchers information as regards Radiological findings in their clinical research works.
Mission statement of the Department:
To collaborate with other Departments in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences to graduate well-trained Medical Doctors that meet international standards in Knowledge and Practice.
General services and academic programs
The Department, apart from its role in the training of Medical Students, has an added role in servicing the Radiology Department of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital with Specialist Consultations and Training of Resident Doctors.
