The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences is an evolving Department in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, Ekiti State University. The Department was established for training highly qualified, skillful and efficient health care laboratory professionals. The department aims to become a center of excellence that benefits patients, the community and academia, as well as undertake research to find solutions to health problems facing the country and the continent at large.

The global shortage of skilled health workers has significantly affected the effectiveness of the Healthcare system as well as patient’s management and treatment. As a result, the department will prepare students with theoretical and scientific background knowledge including the practical skills necessary to succeed in their professional roles. In addition, the students will receive training in Biotechnology techniques with practical competence for use in the various health care settings and Industries.
