The Department of Obstetric and Gynaecology is one of the core Clinical Departments that took off with the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University in 2011.  The Department started with four pioneer Lecturers, with the co-ordinator being Dr. Ade-Ojo Idowu Pius who was succeeded by the first Ag. Head of Department, Dr. Awoloke Jacob Olumuyiwa, in 2013.

At present, the Department has 1 Professors, 3 Readers, 3 Senior Lecturer, 1 adjunct visiting Lecturer 1 and one Professor (currently spending his sabbatical leave in the department). The Department currently runs six sub-specializations, including materno-fetal medicine, gynae-oncology, infertility and endocrinology family planning and reproductive health and minimal access surgery unit.
