The current head of department is Prof Eyitope Oluseyi Amu (MBChB; MPH; FMCPH).

Prof E. O. Amu obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and Master of Public Health degrees from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. She had her postgraduate Medical Residency Training under the National College of Physicians at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife. She holds a Fellowship degree of the National College of Physicians in Community Medicine and Public Health (FMCPH). By this specialist medical degree, she is a Consultant Public Health Physician and is a Professor of Community Medicine and Public Health. She has authored many scientific peer reviewed papers both in Local and International journals.
