Dr Oladele Olatunya

HOD

Dr Oladele Olatunya is the current head of the Department of Physiology. He is a medically qualified academic having obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Ilorin in January 2000. He obtained the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2011 and Bagged his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in 2018 from the University of Campinas, Brazil. He is a prolific researcher and has won many awards including EMZOR award for the best graduating candidate in the Faculty of Paediatrics of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2011, He also won the Abstract Achievement Award of American Society of Hematology (ASH) in 2017 at the 57th ASH Conference, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, 2017. He is a recipient of some research grants namely CnPq and FAPESP research grants among others. He has served as a member of several important committees of the university which include Member, Business Committee of the Senate; Member, Ekiti State University Research Agenda; and Member, Ekiti University Amnesty Committee among others. He is currently a member of the Board of the College of Postgraduate Studies where he is serving as a member of the Academic and Research Committee. He has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed local and international journals out of which over 65 of these articles are indexed in Scopus. He is listed among SCIVAL`s top 200 published Nigerian authors (2016 to 2022 ranking) by SCIVAL-Elsever website: www.scival.com (June 2023). Apart from his involvement in the training of undergraduate students, he is also involved in postgraduate supervisions and examinations at both the Fellowship and PhD levels.

Services within the University

He has served as a member of several important committees of the university which include Member, Business Committee of the Senate; Member, Ekiti State University Research Agenda; and Member, Ekiti University Amnesty Committee among others. He is currently a member of the Board of the College of Postgraduate Studies where he is serving as a member of the Academic and Research Committee (ARC).
