Brief History of The Department

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is one of the core Clinical Departments that took off with the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University in 2011.  The Department started with four pioneer Lecturers, with the co-ordinator being Dr. Ade-Ojo Idowu Pius who was succeeded by the first Ag. Head of Department, Dr. Awoleke Jacob Olumuyiwa, in 2013.

At present, the Department has 3 Professors, 1 Reader and 2 Senior Lecturers. The Department currently runs six sub-specializations  which include

  1. Maternal-fetal Medicine,
  2. Gynae-oncology
  3. Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology
  4. Urogynaecology
  5. Family Planning and Reproductive Health
  6. Minimal access surgery unit.
